Gestures of Help and Support #postEarthquake

Image
It brought the never seen before disaster with that almost a minute long strong shaking of ground. It is still haunting people with aftershocks, which have been routined almost as good morning shocks and good night shocks. Moreover, the thunderstorms are competing with the tremors now. Death toll has crossed eight thousands and the number of injured has reached almost eighteen thousands. Dharahara, Basantapur, Temples, villages, roads….none are left from the devastation. But the rays of hope are shining, that we will rise again. Volunteer Batch from Bibeksheel Nepali In these tougher times, the gestures of help shown by the fellow countries, youths of Nepal and the police and armies are totally overwhelming and supportive. Every bit of help from every single person is accounted. The kind of support, interest and unity we have come across during this period only shows that Together We Rise . Irrespective of class, caste or religion, we have come united to help the country and ...

Broken Hearts say...

We're as devastated as our cultural heritages are. We're as heartbroken as our brothers and sisters are. We've lost too much to keep calm. We're as shaken as the tremors shook our Nepal. But, we have hopes. Thank you all the people and all the countries for helping us in these darkest hours of our country. Now, we see Humanity exists. Thank you for every single gesture of help. (photo source: facebook) We're lucky that we are safe, have shelters under tents on nearby field and have foods to eat. Many   out there are helpless. Many of us are volunteering, and many of us are willing but not being able as the fear has hit us hard and are out of clue to start from where. But, let's try...as much as we can do. Share a packet of noodle or a bottle of water, anything we think is necessary. Rest in peace all the lost souls. Get well soon injured folks. Stay safe lucky ones. If God has something to do with this disaster, God will also look after us. Yes, we...

Another year passed....

Calendar changed. Another year passed. Same as usual - the dreams and the hopes are still unconquered and the taste of life is still mixed-up. Different in just the way those previous years used to be for everyday is new in itself and each year is different from another. Good moments and bad moments. Many mistakes and few prides. Little love and no fights. Many arguments! Above all, ‘explore’ would be the word I wanna use for my year. Not much as I dream, but certainly more than ever before. Everybody is struggling for his or her own goals, some clear and some blurred. It feels as if graduating is the toughest work one has to do while in college years but the real struggle hits hard when one has to step on the real working life. There are tougher things we have to accomplish, truths we need to realize and the system we may not like. Too much gloss is in lights, too much gloom in darks - confusion everywhere around. When I was doing my first job as a civil engineer in a rural ...

The Official Breakup Day

She finally decided to talk to him. They had neither met nor talked for a week already. He had called her many times for first two days but she had not received any calls. He was enjoying the company of another girl anyway and she somewhat had guessed that. She headed over to his flat, to clear all the matters and declare the official breakup. She unlocked the main door with the key, which she had taken earlier from his key ring; he hadn’t asked to return because he had his own piece of key. How thoughtful it was of him to let the door of his bedroom remain unlocked thinking nobody would come to his so-called private chamber at the noon and that main door was locked anyway. She caught him dating a different girl in his house, well, more than just a dating; their half-naked bodies were stuck together strongly as if a large amount of fevicol was used in between. Well, that surely was not any fevicol. She was only slightly shocked but much disgusted and so yelled, cursed some f-word...

Gaining Extra Kilos

When do you think you’ve gained some weight and realize those kilos plus in your body? I do when I see my stomach becoming a sphere crossing the line drawn from head to toe. And when it becomes a bit hard to button up my pants! You know what I mean.  I’d be happy if the extra kilos were muscles but not fat. This was bound to happen when all I’m doing for few months now is eating, sitting and sleeping! It literally became the right-on process of gaining kilos, and how I've been totally into it! Fat can be burnt and toned into muscles, I know, right? but I am lazy as hell to workout. I might not be alone in it! I don’t think any young man with relatively average or lean body looks good with this. Not a single t-shirt or shirt can hide that pretty round belly’s fat. I mean no offense to people with little more weight, believe me - you guys are handsome. I’m saying that if it has to be fat, it should be nice kinda fat, i.e. thoroughly distributed over all parts, not just th...

Increasing Women Violence and Our Mindset: Gender Discrimination and Gender Equality

Why are a majority of women in our country backward? Is it because there is a male-dominated society in Nepal? Yes, to some extent. But so is the world overall. And whilst world is suffering from the problem, have we thought deeply about the issue and its causes and solutions? The current time is transition phase all over the world when there comes the question of gender equality. It definitely takes quite a time to eradicate the gender discrimination completely but to let time carry all the duties on its shoulder is a big no-no. Change must come first in us and in our way of thinking. Change must start from the home. This problem might seem lesser in frequency or priority in developed nations but in the developing countries like ours, it is the most serious social problem, from ages back to the moment now. So, are we really behaving like a human or just showing off our humane words on social networking sites? People are more educated and literate now. Media is much more powerfu...

Glory of Art

Look at the fingers playing across the strings of guitar And them synchronizing with the lips over the flute And holding and juggling the bow on violin or fiddle And the fingers dancing on the keys of a piano The tunes, the melody, the music it resonates I can sense a skill, magic, art and song of its greatness. I see a diver diving into the river and floating on it Playing with the tides, flapping the hands and the feet To go with a flow and reach the other end, a skill required And in all this, there is an art and the glory of it. A potter’s hands and its movements with the smell of clay A footballer or cricketer or any player as they play An artists’ pencil or a painter’s brush Into the canvas, follows their hands’ playful way The sun and the moon, the time and the nature Their ritual of ending a night and calling upon a day Everything has a form and a structure of its own Anything golden or silver and the blues or grey Life's an art there, from a birth to ...
