7 things you might face if you are a Nepali born in Kartik

If you are a Nepali born in the month of Kartik (October 18 - November 16), then you might have probably come across these things.

1.       Which month are you born?
“Which month are you born?”
-          Kartik
“Eh! Kattike po?” Digest the sarcasm. Ha-ha!

2.       Your birthday might fall on the day of Kukur Tihar!
No. 1 was the general kind-of-funny gesture from the people. More kind-of-funnier is when you have your birthday on Kukur Tihar and you get wishes with a little bit of extra funny words added on facebook wall.

I personally feel that all those who are born in Kartik get their birthday on this very Kukur Tihar at least once in a life. I love dogs, I don’t feel bad. J

Moreover, I have already witnessed that ‘day’ four years back. Best thing about that was I had quite a memorable birthday that year, thanks to my friends who surprised me on a midnight with a ‘Happy Birthday’ cake.

3.        Wait, you have other days too!
If Kukur Tihar makes you feel bad (which you should not – Dogs are friends), you might also get your birthdays on some auspicious days like Dashami (Dashain-Tika Day) or Bhaitika or Laxmi Puja or Mahanawami. [Not to mention Kaag Tihar and Goru Tihar! J]

There is a chance, at least once in a life.

These mean double celebrations. Enjoy.

I was actually born on the day of Mahanawami. After having birthday on Kukur Tihar, I had my next two on Dashami and Bhaitika.

4.       No treat-giving, may be!
Since your birthday might fall on or in between Dashain and Tihar i.e. in a vacation, you may not be giving a treat to your friends on your born-day. Conditions applied though.

No treat given equals No gifts received. Mind it.

5.       Don’t worry if your birthday is forgotten!
(Again) Since your birthday might fall on festive season, your relatives and friends might forget your

birthday, considering festival a reason. [But not by parents, very less chance of this!]

Do not worry because Facebook is always there. Facebook is a reminder app.

Even if not in festive period, only handful of people will remember your birthday without being reminded from facebook.

6.       Lucky
According to the chali-aayeko-chalan or bhanidai-aayeko-kathan, you are Lucky! Yes, Kattikes are supposedly lucky ones. If you feel you are lucky, it is true and if you don’t, it is NOT. Keep it simple.

Was Laxmi Prasad Devkota lucky or our late Queen Aishwarya?

7.       Do you have smelling power?
This might sound creepy but I kinda have a tendency of having a smell of things faster than fellow people do and a habit of taking a smell of most of the new things (including foods). I call it my smelling power that I got when I was born in Kartik. Ha-ha!

So, do you fall in the same bowl? Or, do you think similar about the ones in that bowl? Feel free to comment.
